As a child, I was obsessed with horror: horror novels, like Goosebumps, children’s series, and eventually horror films.
However, this halted for a few years when I watched the original Amityville Horror film on my own. The image of the house, with its windows backlit with blood red light and the shape of the windows themselves, like a pair of bloodshot eyes, scared me so badly that I couldn’t stand to even look at the cover of the DVD. The creepy opening music did not help. At all.
